Certification Description
The Certified Otorhinolaryngology Nurse (CORLN) certification certifies that an individual has the experience and knowledge to work in otorhinolaryngology. Nurses with this certification have shown they have the expertise to work with patients who suffer from ear, nose and throat (ENT) disorders.
Skills Focus
The certification focuses on the following areas:
- Understanding of normal anatomy and physiology
- Familiarity working with pharyngitis, tonsillitis and stenosis
- Knowledge of tumors, foreign bodies and carcinomas
- Understanding of diagnostic testing and procedures
- Competency post-treatment management
- Knowledge of ethics and laws
- Familiarity with pretreatments, treatments and surgical procedures

Exam Details
- Issuing Organization: Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses (SOHN)
- Prerequisites: Applicants must hold an active RN, LPN or LVN license; it is suggested that the applicant have 3+ years of experience in otorhinolaryngology and/or head-neck nursing practice; other requirements may apply
- Questions: 250
- Time: 240 minutes
- Cost: $325 for SOHN members and $425 for non-members
- Re-certification and certification renewal: Every 5 years
