Certification Description
The NAPNES Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) credential certifies that a licensed practical nurse (LPN)/licensed vocational nurse (LVN) has achieved a level of knowledge above the minimum standard required for licensure. LPNs/LVNs with this credential have advanced knowledge and excellence in nursing care for patients with chronic illnesses across all age groups.
LPNs/LVNs with this credential may have additional job duties and career opportunities that other LPNs/LVNs may not be eligible for.

The certification focuses on the following areas:
- Knowledge of how to promote a good quality of life for patients
- Ability to see each patient as an individual with individual wants and needs
- Understanding of psychosocial needs across the lifespan
- Ability to follow state and federal legislation, in regards to care and confidentiality
- Ensure that communication is clear and documented
