Certification Description
The Acute Care NP Adult-Gero (ACNPC-AG) certification is an entry-level, advanced practice certification for acute care nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners with this certification have the skills and expertise to provide all-inclusive advanced care to acutely ill adult and gerontology patients.
Nurse practitioners with this credential may have career advancement opportunities and higher pay that other professionals may not be eligible for.
Skills Focus
The certification focuses on the following areas:
- Ability to recognize heart failure
- Knowledge of bowel infarction, obstruction and perforation
- Understanding of neuromuscular dysfunction
- Competency working with PTSD, OCD, dementia, delirium and phobias
- Ability to identify fever of an unknown origin
- Knowledge of how to screen for cancer
- Familiarity with postoperative impaired conditions
- Understanding of infectious diseases
- Proficiency working with hematology, immunology and oncology

- Cost: Cost: $255 for AACN members and $360 for non-members
- Re-certification and certification renewal: Every 5 years
